The Central Bank of Ukraine has announced new restrictions on buying cryptocurrencies using UAH. Purchasing cryptocurrencies with UAH is now prohibited, according to the announcement made by the NBU. Although it is still possible to buy crypto with foreign currency accounts such as USD, there is a limit of 100,000 UAH, roughly 3,400 USD. The reason for the restrictions is to prevent the outflow of capital from the country.
Temporary Law Changes
Most Ukrainian banks accepted these restrictions and began to implement them. In fact, Ukraine's largest commercial bank, PrivatBank, banned its customers from buying Bitcoin with UAH in mid-March.
