With the mining ban in May 2021, Chinese authorities began forcing BTC miners out of the country. Prior to that date, the leading country in terms of Bitcoin mining capacity was China. Now, American miners control the largest share of the Bitcoin hash rate. Russia and Kazakhstan have removed China from the list of major BTC miners.
China Still Strong
According to the CCAF, China produces 22.3% of the BTC hash rate. Thousands of citizens in China are secretly mining cryptocurrencies. Miners use foreign proxy services. Kazakhstan's share of Bitcoin hash rate is more than 18%.
