Coinecko announced that the cryptocurrency advertising platform Coinzilla was the source of the phishing attack code. CoinGecko users are being attacked by phishing malware. Apart from CoinGecko, the phishing attack also targeted Etherscan. The attacker wanted its users to link their Metamask wallets to a website called nftapes.win.
Users of Dextools, another popular cryptocurrency site, were also affected by the attack. The common point of the three platforms is that they use the Coinzilla advertising platform. Ads displayed on the sites became a stepping stone for the phishing attack.
