Nvidia, the world's largest GPU company, has been fined for failing to report details to the SEC about how cryptocurrency mining affects the company. The graphics cards that Nvidia developed and sold for gaming in 2018 were used not only for gaming, but also for cryptocurrency mining. Nvidia did not report this to the SEC as part of its revenue growth.
The penalty resulted in Nvidia's failure to mention cryptocurrency mining as the reason for sales growth and revenue growth in two of its reports for fiscal 2018, according to the SEC.
