The Liberty project, supported by real estate billionaire Frank McCourt and aiming to replace today's social media platforms, will run on the Polkadot parachain system. Developed with an investment of $100 million, Liberty will be an open-source, publicly owned infrastructure called the decentralized social networking protocol (DSNP).
The platform, which began development last year, chose the Polkadot blockchain because it has features adaptable to social networks. Polkadot's features such as scaling and low cost are superior to other blockchains. More than 30 blockchain networks have been in-depth studied for Liberty.
